Lymphatic Drainage Facial
Stimulating your facial lymph nodes gives your body’s natural detox process a boost, reducing bloating and promoting a sense of wellbeing.
How does lymphatic drainage work?
A lymphatic drainage facial is a soothing and relaxing massage using gentle but effective brushing motions to reduce swelling in the eye and neck area, as well as the rest of the face. The lymphatic system consists of a large network of lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes throughout the body. Intrinsically linked to your immune system, the lymphatic network aids in the removal of waste products from body tissue. The lymphatic system functions via and is dependent on the pressure of the blood system. Because of this, the efficacy of your lymph nodes in eliminating toxins is dependent on the efficacy of your circulatory system, which can mean a slower-than-desirable detoxification process. This is where physical manipulation of the lymph nodes comes in to help speed up the process. As a beneficial side effect, your immune system is also boosted. Before treatment, some patients may experience impaired lymph drainage, where, for example, flow is obstructed or simply insufficient. When flow is obstructed or too slow, lymphatic fluid (lymph) accumulates in the tissue resulting in swelling in the affected area, and this can irritate the skin. When fluid builds up like this it can cause discomfort, puffiness and a dull complexion.
When is lymph drainage most effective?
The stimulation of lymph node drainage is highly recommended for acne, Couperose and general congestion of the lymphatic system (telltale signs can be bags under the eyes and a range of skin irritations). With regular treatment, the symptoms of a congested lymphatic system can be dramatically reduced, improving the skin’s appearance.
Can any masseuse perform lymphatic drainage?
A lymphatic drainage facial is not an ordinary massage and should be performed only by trained personnel. But as with traditional massages, this gentle therapy is also soothing and relaxing. You can book a lymphatic drainage facial (20 min) as a stand-alone treatment or as part of our full lymph detox treatment (90 min).

A full lymph detox treatment consists of the following:
To begin with, you will undergo a deep skin cleanse. Dead skin cells in the upper layer of the skin are sloughed off using the diamond microdermabrasion technique. Then your skin will be steamed using our Vapozone steamer and color light therapy is applied. This process opens up the pores so the skin can be optimally cleaned. At this point the actual lymphatic treatment can begin, where we stimulate the flushing out of the lymphatic system using a soft gripping technique, as well as applying pressure and strokes. At the same time we massage Hyaluronic Acid into the skin. The serum nourishes and moisturizes your skin while simultaneously soothing it. And finally you can lie back and relax while a special face mask does its work, calming and toning the skin. The process is rounded off with a final treatment tailored specifically for your needs. Please note that certain medical conditions are not compatible with lymphatic drainage facials. Our beautician will be happy to advise you further.
